The receipt that reads itself.

By Sorena Sarmadi · Published Apr 27, 2026 · Updated Apr 27, 2026

Most personal-finance products start by asking you to import five years of history and categorize it. Most people do not. The friction kills the habit before the habit is a week old. The Financial Hub in AssistantApp is built on the opposite premise — capture is at the point of spending, and the system gets smarter at it the longer you use it.

Snap a receipt. AI vision pulls the merchant, the amount, the date, and the line items. The categorizer guesses the category from a learned rules table that adapts to your patterns — if your last three Sweetgreen runs were tagged "client lunch," the next one will be too. Tax mapping happens at the same moment, so the deduction flag is on at the time the receipt is taken, not at year-end when memory has faded.

There is a voice path for the moments a phone camera is not the right tool. Driving home from a job site, dictate "ninety-eight dollars at Home Depot for the kitchen install at the Smith property," and the parser pulls vendor, amount, project tag, and the client link without you opening the app. Voice transactions get the same categorization layer.

Two services run quietly behind both paths. Duplicate detection notices when a vendor and amount and date match something in the last seventy-two hours — the most common bookkeeping mistake, prevented by default. Recurring detection flags subscriptions that have crossed the threshold from "ad hoc" into "monthly," so the user can decide what to keep before another quiet renewal.

A monthly summary writes itself out of all of this. Not a chart that tells you spending was up. A short note that says: groceries up twelve percent because the household added a person; subscriptions are now nine, six are under five dollars, two have not been touched in months. The system does not budget for you. It tells you what you would have noticed if you had time to look.
